Subliminal Stimuli and Sexual Arousal - 2007 Research
    Can behavior be dramatically modified by subliminal stimuli? That has been much debated since the 1950s when Vince Packard wrote about the practice in a book called The Hidden Persuaders. Many people object to the notion that their decisions may be based on factors beyond their rational control. Some people strongly believe (or are very quick to dismiss) the idea of subliminal manipulation.
    A recent studied looked into the effects of sexually explicit subliminal stimuli on men and women. The results give some encouragement to both camps - the messages do seem to have an effect, but it is not a simple process to control people.

Here's how the experiment went: Men and women were exposed to a subliminal picture that was either sexual in nature or neutral. They were then measured for arousal and perceived arousal, performance on a picture evaluation task, and performance on a word exercise.

In news that will gladden the hearts of people that hang out at The Mind Control Story Archive, the researchers found that both men and women were more likely to use terms related to sex when evaluating a picture or performing a word exercise if they had just been exposed to the subliminal sexual stimulus. Chalk it up as another study that found that the subconscious mind is real, and it can affect the "rational" mind in a spooky way.

And in news that will disappoint the MC crowd, neither the men or women got measurably aroused by the subliminal picture. The men accurately reported no change in arousal, but the women actually said they were less aroused. The researchers concluded that the subliminal stimuli did affect the thought processes of women and turned their minds towards sex, but it also emotionally turned the women off.

It has been proven in a particular case study that subliminal messages had increased sales of popcorn by almost 60% when used in the cinema. This however has not stopped further research into subliminal messaging and subliminal cds. I Loved THIS Study

A male and a female student wandered about a large university campus, with clip board in hand, and approached everyone (of the opposite sex), that they could find that as on their own. They simply asked if they would like to go somewhere and have sex with them.

The guy got either outright rejected, often verbally abused, (or slapped) by 97 out of 100 women. 2 agreed, but never showed up, and 1 was happy to take him on.

The girl, got laid 95 times. (in various places about the campus) 2 men said no, politely thanking them, but were already spoken for. 3 were gay, but were also very polite.

I've never ben able to discover if this was an actual study, or not....but I still love the concept, and all the social implications of it.
